Leif was such a light. I was proud of how very smart he was. He has also showed us how courageous he was! He was a marvelous student to be sure!

He loved nature and shared that love with "Uncle Chuck"...and my memories are rich with our trips going to the Sandy Beach...former name of East Harbor State Park. Chuck and my father had grown up there at Sandy Beach.
Since our father, Bob, was farming every day from dawn to dusk, Uncle Chuck took Peg and I with his brood,  all in their station wagon to the beach daily....we all loved it. After attacking the waves or going out to all the sandbars...we would settle on the beach to make sand castles...moats, trees, trenches and water features.

At this Karin [Leif's older sister] did totally excel. We would retire to the front porch swing area for popsicles that Aunt Chris would make. We were always included on "Chuck's side" of the family farm house that in the summer held 6 kids.

All my life I have found comfort being on a beach or water...and this is why.

I remember Susan and Leif's wedding reception on Lake Cayuga and again the beautiful natural surroundings which he loved exploring.

We must all hold fast to the lovely memories of "Lucky"...we look forward to seeing him again.
